FAQ

Here are the most frequently asked questions; if you don't find your answer, contact us!

- What is TUTTI paint?

TUTTI is a 100% natural, milk-based, powdered interior paint.
It is formulated from natural binders (see composition on the technical data sheet ) and contains no solvents or VOCs.

- Why is the paint in powder form?

Powder coating allows for:

  • better preservation

  • a preparation made to order (only the necessary quantity is mixed)

  • a more environmentally friendly mode of transport (no water transported)

You just need to add water to prepare it.

- How do I prepare the paint?

Mix :

1 volume of TUTTI + 1 volume of water , or even 1 and a half volumes depending on the desired texture.

Mix until a smooth texture is achieved.
Leave to rest for a few minutes to 1 hour, then mix again before applying.

Add water if necessary: the texture should be fluid, with a smooth consistency.

Then add your pigments for the color:
1 part pigment + 1 part water , then incorporate into the paint.

The mixing remains instinctive: it's not about precise mathematics 🤯
The texture should be workable with a whisk: neither too runny nor too thick.

During application, the paint should be "pleasant to apply".
If it seems too thick or pulls, add a little water and mix again.

It's better to start with a slightly too thick texture (easy to adjust) than with a texture that's too runny 😊

- What is the yield?

Approximately 10 to 15 m² per kilo , depending on the substrate (absorbent or not) and the number of layers (10 to 15 m² corresponds to one layer)

- On what surfaces can it be applied?

TUTTI applies to:

  • raw plaster

  • raw wood

  • old paint (be careful to mattify the surface if the paint is satin or gloss and dust it - add 3% adhesion resin in this case)

  • lime and mineral substrates (washes, plasters)

The surface must be clean, dry and dust-free.

- Can the paint be colored?

Yes.
You can add compatible natural or synthetic pigments.

Recommended preparation:
1 volume of pigment + 1 volume of water , then incorporated into the prepared paint.

- Are the pigments offered natural?

Atelier TUTTI offers natural pigments (minerals, earths, ochres, except for the transformed cobalt blue which has a mineral base).

There are also synthetic pigments, which are now stable and non-harmful when used correctly.

- Does the color change when it dries?

Yes, a little.
The color lightens slightly as it dries.
It is always advisable to do a test before full application.

- Is an undercoat necessary?

On a sound and absorbent surface, this is generally not necessary.
On closed or very smooth surfaces, a preliminary test is recommended.

We recommend a natural or bio-based undercoat when the substrate is heterogeneous and/or when the adhesion of TUTTI paint may prove difficult on an old paint that is very smooth and difficult to mattify, for example.

- How many coats should be applied?

Generally, 2 coats are sufficient.
On dark or highly absorbent surfaces, a third coat may be necessary.

- Is it a durable paint?

Once dry, the paint is durable and breathable.
It is suitable for interior walls: bedrooms, living rooms and other living spaces.

For high-traffic areas, a more suitable paint will be required.

TUTTI is not washable, like a lime or stone wall might be, but it can be easily repaired with touch-ups!

- Is the paint environmentally friendly?

Yes :

  • VOC-free

  • Solvent-free

  • Made with natural binders

  • Optimized transport (powder formula)

- How do I clean the tools?

Rinse with water immediately after use. A little black soap or dishwashing liquid will soften the bristles of your brush.

- How long does the paint last?

The powder can be stored indefinitely when protected from moisture.

Once mixed, the paint must be used within the following days.
It can be kept cool, ideally in the refrigerator, in an airtight container.
